Robert D. Hudson, Director of Music

RobertEducated in Alabama and Boston, Robert spent most of his teaching years in the state of Main at all levels of public and private schools. For several years, he was the Executive Director of FORUM-A, a regional  arts council in association with the University of Maine at Augusta. Concurrently, he was the Business Manager/Music Director of the Theater at Monmouth, a professional Shakespeare theater. Between 1966 and 1982, he served as adjudicator of state band contests and as conductor of several youth orchestras.

At the University of Maine at Augusta he taught nine years as Assistant Professor of Music. In 1982 he formed and conducted for five years the Magic City Community Orchestra in Birmingham, Alabama.

Robert came to Hendersonville in 1990, accepting a teaching assignment as string/orchestra teacher for the county schools. Currently he is the Leader of The Early Music Ensemble of Hendersonville and performs with The Hendersonville Community Band. He was Music Director/Conductor of the Hendersonville Chorale for four years. Mr. Hudson is involved in many places in the music scene in Henderson and Buncombe counties.
