Sunday morning at Providence

This Sunday morning, October 6, we will gather at 12 noon in Providence House. Bring your lunch or make a sandwich from food provided (PB&J, chicken salad, pimento cheese, etc. Drinks provided). We will talk, pray, tell stories, make plans, maybe sing a little, and eat lunch together (Koinonia) then clear out so the Worship Team can prepare for the afternoon meal. No worship service at 10:30 but I will post a video message for our far-flung live-stream friends. Call friends and others to notify them of this Sunday schedule. Come and be a part of our fellowship meal at noon on Sunday. We need to be together.
We continue to monitor things with our buildings and with our congregation. Some still do not have power; there is no power at the church (and the fellowship hall carpet is still soaked and may need to be removed). Trees once blocking the streets are cut and pushed to the sidewalks. Some people have left home to stay with others who have power.  Phone and internet coverage is spotty. Food continues to be a challenge. But, as far as I know, no Providence person has been injured and there has been little property damage (other than trees down).
Sunday is World Communion Sunday. We will have the Lord’s Supper as part of our Sunday noon fellowship, remembering (as Marcy said to me yesterday) that many Christians around the world live in conditions as sad and challenging as we have dealt with this week. We will lift our minds and voices and prayers on behalf of people who are coping with things far worse than what we have in Hendersonville.  Your pastor, Dwight A. Moody

the large tree at the back corner of our neighbor’s property fell across Schepler Street and only cars at the dealership behind the church. A city-contracted crew came Thursday to clear the street (but not remove the debris). Our parking lot is open and accessible.
A large tree on the property of our neighbor immediately to the south of the church uprooted and took the sidewalk with it. Nothing has been done to fix this as it has not obstructed traffic nor endangered people. Also, two very large trees at the back edge of the Providence House property fell toward  (but not on) Burger King; damage is yet to be assessed,
